About Nagphani Parshvanath :

Shri Nagphani Parshvanath Digamber Jain Mandir Atishaya Kshetra is situated 12 km away from Bichiwada of Dungarpur District in Rajasthan State. This place is located in the center of naturally beautiful hills of Aravali Range. It is surrounded by beautiful green vegetation. The nearby Moder Village is about half km away from this place. It seems that the nature being impressed by the miracles of Kshetra has scattered all her beauty around the Kshetra. The principal deity of this Kshetra, Bhagwan Parshvanath is installed on the forehead of his disciple Dharnendra. This idol of Parshvanath is quite ancient & artistic.

According to one saying this idol was found lying on the top of hill in between dense forest. Once one old woman saw the idol and she became devotional after seeing the idol in such state. So she started visiting at the place and offering the prayers. One day she prayed “it is difficult for me to climb the hill everyday, from tomorrow I will not come & I will be very gratefully you show your mercy on me & visit to my village & house.”

On that night the old woman saw the dream that she should built the cart of Sarkenda and in that she should form ‘Gundi’ of raw cotton and should bring the idol of Bhagwan in that cart. There was one condition that she should not look back while bringing the idol of Bhagwan Parshvanath in her cart and if she did the same and took the idol of Bhagwan Parshvanath towards her house. In between she felt that the cart, which was heavy before, has now become light in weight. She thought that it is possible that idol must have fallen from the cart and turned back to see what was the matter and found that the idol was there in the cart and more ones after it as she started the cart; the cart became standstill and she was not able to pull cart further. Suddenly she realized that she had not kept promise and she had not acted according the condition. She felt sorry for that but all was in vain.

At last the old woman decided to get the temple constructed at the place where cart became standstill and established the idol of Bhagwan Parshvanath in that.
